1 - Install security updates on your computer
2 - Shop from a secure computer - one that is normally in your possession
3 - Look for the green padlock in the upper left corner of the web browser address bar
4 - If you use a tablet or smartphone, use the retailer apps rather than the mobile browser
5 - Search for deals on the retailer sites directly instead of through a search engine
6 - Use trusted retailers and don't fall for 'too-good-to-be-true' deals
7 - Plan ahead and don't be rushed. Rushing can cause you to click a malicious link in inadvertently
8 - Review credit-card and bank statements regularly during the shopping season
9 - Use a credit card rather than a debit card if possible. Or use PayPal or another secure payment system
